Marvel Studios is in talks with Jupiter AND Anthony Russo to return to direct the next two Avengers films that are in development. Those films were previously titled Avengers: The Kang Dynasty AND Avengers: The Secret Roadeg..
Over the years a lot has changed at Marvel, and recently they have been reorganizing a lot of things behind the scenes and the direction they intend to take going forward.
The Russos are said to be in the early stages of interviews, but if they are hired, there’s no doubt fans will be happy to see them return to the Marvel family to make two more big Avengers movies.
Several directors have been in talks to direct these films in recent months, including by Shawn Levi (Deadpool and Wolverine), Sam Raimi (Spiderman), Justin BensonAND Aronne Moorhead, our mentor( Knight of the Moon). Destiny Daniel Cretton was the original director of The Kang Dynasty.
The Russos left Marvel to do their own thing and nothing they did was as good as what they did for Marvel. It seemed like they were burned out, but it’s been long enough that they’re actually open to coming back.
Joe Russo said a couple of years ago: “We’re not going to be ready to do anything with Marvel until the end of the decade.”
Things have changed since then, and he later said: “We talked to [Marvel chief creative officer] Kevin [Feige] AND [Marvel Studios co-president] He [D’Esposito] always at Marvel. [Marvel Studios executive Vice President of Production] Victory [Alonso].
“They’re all our friends… there’s always conversations going on. I think, you know, when we all land on the right project, it’s for us all to team up on what, we dive in for sure.”
It’s no secret that the Russos are big fans of the Secret Wars storyline. Joe Russo once said, “We always answer honestly when asked, ‘Would you work with them? [Marvel Studios]?’ ‘Of course we would, we love them.’
“‘What would you like to do?’ ‘Secret Warswas our favorite show when we were kids.’ And then I think it always gets spun off into a bigger story. But to be clear: There’s no story… We haven’t had any conversations with those guys about anything they’re doing because we’ve been so busy with our own schedules.”
When previously it was spoken of Secret WarsJoe Russo said: “You know, I read it when I was 10 or 11, and it was the scale of putting all the heroes together. It was one of the first major books to do that, and to me it was really event narrative at its finest.
“And what happens when you put all these personalities together. I also like the idea of villains having to team up with heroes. Anth and I like complicated relationships between heroes and villains, we like villains who think they’re heroes in their stories, so it’s all kind of integrated into this notion of Secret Wars.
“Doing something on the scale of Infinity War was directly related to the dream of Secret Warswhich is even larger in size.”
So, they might actually be able to tell the story they were so excited about.
