The Louvre was robbed in Paris today. Nine pieces from the jewelery collection of Napoleon and Empress Josephine were reportedly stolen from the museum.

French Culture Minister Rachida Dati wrote on a banned social network: “The robbery took place this morning at the opening of the Louvre. There was no loss of life. I am here with the museum staff and the police.”
The Louvre management officially announced the closure of the museum on October 19, citing exceptional circumstances. According to Le Parisien, the attackers took advantage of renovation works to enter the museum using a freight elevator. Thereupon, the robbers broke the windows and entered the Apollo gallery.
The criminals are known to have managed to steal nine pieces of jewellery, including a necklace, brooch and tiara, in just seven minutes. The detailed list of stolen items is currently being clarified by experts conducting inventory work at the museum.
By the way, we previously reported that a 3,000-year-old gold bracelet of a pharaoh was stolen from the Cairo Museum. Criminals not only stole a valuable artifact, they also destroyed it.
