Review: Nicolas Cage’s horror film LONGLEGS disappoints and isn’t all that scary

I had high expectations for the newly released horror film Long legsWith all the pre-release buzz and huge marketing campaign, it was hard not to get swept up in the excitement.

I loved the marketing for the movie. I loved how they built the suspense and created this mysterious creepy atmosphere. The marketing campaign was brilliant!

So, the anticipation was exciting, with social media ablaze with claims that this movie was the scariest of the decade. I even convinced my 19-year-old daughter, another horror fan, to join me for the experience.

But unfortunately, Long legs it didn’t live up to expectations. From the moment the movie started, it was clear that it wasn’t going to be the great movie I was expecting.

My daughter pointed it out first, remarking on how boring it was. And she was right. This movie didn’t have the thrills, chills, and scares that were promised. It was a slow movie, and while I usually like movies that take their time building suspense, this one never seemed to ignite.

I expected to be dragged into the depths of hell, experiencing a never-ending and terrifying journey. Instead, the film fell flat, with none of the horror elements landing effectively.

Comparisons with The Silence of the Lambs AND Se7en are grossly overrated. Long legs It’s not on the same level as those masterpieces. It had some interesting ideas and elements, but the overall execution was lacking.

Nicholas Cageplaying the deranged serial killer, he brought his signature style to the role. He tried to embody his serial killer persona with madness and a sense of uniqueness, but even his performance failed to elevate the film. This was definitely not his most compelling role.

Directed by Oz Perkins, Long legs follows Maika Monroethe character of Lee Harker, a talented new FBI agent assigned to an unsolved serial killer case. The story promised a complex narrative, uncovering evidence of the occult and a personal connection between Harker and the killer.

It was a race against time to stop the killer before another innocent family fell victim. However, the film’s slow pace and lack of a climactic ending left much to be desired.

Even though this movie didn’t convince me, it might still be worth checking out for die-hard horror fans. Maybe you’ll enjoy it a little more than I did.

For me, however, Long legs It was a disappointment, failed to deliver on its promises and fell short of the high standards set by its predecessors in the genre.
