Peacock has released the director’s first trailer John Woothe reimagining of his classic 1989 action thriller The killerThe movie stars Nathalie Emmanuelwho plays Chow Yun-Fat’s hitman.
Peacock describes the film as follows: “From the Oscar-winning producer of OppenheimerThe kinetic action thriller stars Emmy nominee Nathalie Emmanuel (The Fast Saga, game of Thrones) as Zee, a mysterious and infamous assassin known and feared in the Parisian underworld as the Queen of the Dead.
“But when, during an assignment from his dark mentor and manager (The AvatarSam Worthington), Zee refuses to kill a young blind woman (Diana Silvers; Mom, Booksmart) in a Paris nightclub, the decision will disintegrate Zee’s alliances and attract the attention of a skilled police investigator (Omar Sy; Jurassic World franchising, Lupine) and catapults her into a sinister criminal conspiracy that will lead her to collide with her past.”
When you watch the trailer, you’ll realize that this is a John Woo-style movie. It has all those wide Woo-style action shots.
I loved the original film, which is a fantastic timeless classic, and I don’t know why Woo wanted to reinvent it. This doesn’t seem like a better film, but I’m sure it will be entertaining.
The cast of the film includes famous French actors Eric Cantona (The Fragile Colossus, Elizabeth), Sasd Taghmaoui (Wonder Woman, The Kite Runner), Czech Karyo (Nikita, a very long engagement) AND Gregory Montel (Call My Agent!, Thirst for Life), Angel Woo (Silent Night, Manhunt) AND Aurélia Agel (Halo, Black Widow).
The killer will be released on Peacock on August 23.
