Here’s an interesting piece of marketing for the director Faith Alvarez’S Alien: RomulusThis first clip of the film was released on VHS and the VHS tape was sent to a handful of journalists.
io9 shared a video of the clip playing on an old TV; you can see the full scene in the video below.
Alvarez said on X: “@20thcentury and I decided to release a full scene from my movie #AlienRomulus, but I only had one condition… it had to be on VHS.”
The lo-fi scene revolves around the crew preparing for liftoff and embarking on a mission to the Renaissance space station. It shows the ship and its crew blasting off into space and gives us a sense of what that experience is like.
The tape also included a sneak peek of Alien: Romulus‘ at San Diego Comic-Con.
Alien: Romulus follows a “group of young people on a distant world who find themselves confronted by the most terrifying life form in the universe.”
The movie stars Cailee Spaeny, Isabella Mercedwhich is also joined Archie Renaux (Shadow and bone), Spike Fear (After sun), and the new arrival Aileen Wu.
Alvarez directs the film from a script he wrote himself. Rodo Sayagues. Ridley Scott he is also a producer of the film together with Michael Pruss (Boston Strangler) for Scott Free, with Brent O’Connor (High speed train), Elizabeth Cantillon (Persuasion) AND Tom Moran (The King of Donuts) as executive producers.
Alien: Romulus will be released in theaters on August 16th.
