When I first saw Ninja Scroll As a young teenager, my mind completely melted. I had never seen anything like it before and it started my journey into the world of anime.
In celebration of the film’s 30th anniversary, the 1993 film is being re-released in theaters! Part of Iconic Events Releasing’s AX Cinema Nights 2024-2025 series, it will be shown in over 500 theaters across the United States on September 11, 12, and 15, and will be presented in both Japanese with English subtitles and dubbed in English.
AX Cinema Nights is “a year-round film event series that celebrates the best new and classic anime films, bringing them to theaters across North America. It offers its community of passionate fans immersive and unforgettable experiences that go beyond the annual Anime Expo.”
Ninja Scroll was directed by Yoshiaki Kawajiri and the story follows Jubei Kibagami, a skilled wandering swordsman, who finds himself embroiled in a series of events that pits him against the Eight Devils of Kimon, a group of powerful and deadly ninja.
After saving a ninja, Kagero, from a harrowing assault, Jubei is poisoned and forced into a mission by a cunning government spy named Dakuan. Together, they uncover a sinister plot involving a plague-ridden village and a quest for immense power.
It’s a movie I’ve never seen on the big screen, it’s going to be a fantastic experience!
