Andrew Lincoln returned to Walking Dead franchise for the spin-off series Those who livewhich continued the story of Rick and Michonne.
It was a solid series that fans seemed to enjoy. It was great to see these two characters come together again for a whole new story, and that was something Lincoln wasn’t sure he could do.
Lincoln also expressed his opinion on the possibility of reprising the role of Rick in the future, stating, “For me, that’s what we can safely say: It’s done.”
She continued: “That’s a reunion; it’s the perfect iteration of a story that I thought wasn’t going to happen for a while, and then Danai and Scott both said, ‘We have to reunite, we have to tell an epic love story.’
“I thought, ‘This is a great idea, let’s tell the story of CRM and do what the adults did,’ maybe add a few stand-ins, because I love all that.”
He went on to say that he doesn’t rule out a possible return: “I’m a bit of a nerd about the whole mythology and what’s going on, what’s happened. So the short answer is never say never.
“Because if there’s a good enough place to put Rick that we’ve never seen before, there are characters in the universe that I would love to play with again. But it has to be a really, really, really good story.”
So, if the creative team can really come up with another great story for Rick to tell, we might see Lincoln back in action. But even if that never happens, the actor has had a great run in the zombie franchise.
