Delightful Trailer and Featurette for Jean Reno’s MY FRIEND THE PENGUIN

Roadside Attractions has released a trailer and behind-the-scenes footage for the upcoming film My penguin friendand it looks like a delightful and fascinating film.

The stars of the film John Reno (Leon: The professional), and tells the true story of a man and a penguin who form a strong bond. This is actually a pretty incredible story.

The film is described as a whirlwind family adventure and triumphant tale of friendship between a single father and a lost little penguin who recharges his spirit and heals his family with an unwavering loyalty that spans the ocean.

In the story, “Humble fisherman João (Reno) has been cast away from the world following a tragedy. But when he discovers a penguin wandering alone in the ocean, soaked in oil from an oil spill, his first instinct is to help.

“To the wife (Adriana Barraza) dismayed, not only saves the sea creature, but takes the flightless bird under his wing. For the first time in years, João begins to feel joy, even though he can’t understand how indestructible the bond that is forming is.

“When the penguin suddenly disappears into the vast ocean wilderness, João believes it is impossible that he will ever see his friend again. But thousands of miles away, the penguin is embroiled in misadventures of his own, determined to use his unique GPS-like powers to find his way back to the place he now calls home.

“Based on a thrilling true story that captivated the world and filmed on the spectacular coasts of Brazil and Argentina, My penguin friend It is a tale that traverses the magic of the ocean, the beauty of nature and the transformative power of love.”

It is explained that over 90% of the footage used real penguins “to capture an authentic representation and perspective of this unique animal.”

My penguin friend will be released in theaters on August 16th.
