Kevin Costner He has played historical figures, original characters, cowboys, cops and more, and one of his memorable roles was as Superman’s father, Jonathan Kent, in the 2013 DC film Man of Steel.
While it may have seemed like a great thing to take on a role in a superhero movie, Costner was apparently a little disappointed when he found out that Clark’s father doesn’t actually have powers.
In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Costner explained:
“It’s just my luck to be in a superhero movie and be the only normal person. I was like, ‘Really? I can’t fly? And I can’t do my first landing through a wall? Maybe I should have read that more carefully. Am I a farmer?’ So I looked at it and said, ‘OK, I can be.’ I thought it was rooted in doubt. But there was no doubt in him raising his hand and saying, ‘Stay there’ to his son.”
So, after all, he managed to show some heroism, but he didn’t get to fly around while doing it. He played that role well, and it’s a shame he didn’t get to play it longer.
Costner can be seen in his latest passion project Horizon: An American Saga — Chapter 1currently in theaters.
