Here’s the trailer and clip for an upcoming Rodeo-inspired drama titled Stroll. The film follows three generations of bull riders as they fight to raise money to transfer the family’s young daughter to a better cancer hospital. It looks like it’s going to be a solid film!
The synopsis reads: “Desperate to raise money for his daughter’s cancer treatment, a retired knight teams up with his estranged son and resorts to robbery to secure payment before time runs out.
“But after the robbery goes awry, to keep the money—and their freedom—the two must outsmart a tenacious pair of local law enforcement officers, including a justice-minded sheriff who soon suspects the key to his case may lie uncomfortably close to home.”
The film was written and directed by Jake Allynand offered some insight into the film, saying, “I’m from Texas; Stroll It’s about my home, my heart. It explores amateur rodeo, addiction in the Heartland, and the cowboy’s place in modern America through the eyes of a struggling family.”
He continued, “The film is inspired by Stephenville, Texas, a rural town that still glorifies the cowboy even as addiction and poverty destroy a place known as The cowboy capital. Even when you enter the city, the proud welcome sign is bent, eerily reminiscent of a bull rider desperately holding on.
“While this film honors the disappearing Western way of life, it also holds up a mirror to many of these rural communities. Places that feel left behind by the 21st century world, that are fighting so hard to maintain their heritage and values, that they get withheld; a term for a fallen knight whose hand is caught in a vise, dragged across the earth as he clings to a ride he has already lost.
The director continues: “Each character reflects this resilient but imperfect Western ethos, which comes from real-life cowboy stories and years of research.
“For example, the three generations of bull riders in the film are played by Forrie J. Smith, C. Thomas Howelland myself. Forrie and C. Thomas were once real bull riders. Together, we used their upbringing to infuse the film with countless real-life moments.
“Like a bull sitting in a locker room, his ribs bruised and bruised, refusing to let go and staring at a pill. Even Annabeth Gish’s character, the iconic lawwoman, turns gray when her headstrong character finds herself alone in a trap house, slowly realizing that this suffocating drug den is a place her son calls home.
He explains, “We shot this film on live rodeos, working ranches, cast real cowboys, and teamed up with a drug cop who lost his son to addiction to make an authentic modern Western that really feels like the ‘West modern'”.
The film is also the protagonist Annabeth Gish, Jake Allin, your mentor, Patrick Murney, Josh Plasse, Laci Kaye’s Cabin, Scott ReevesAND Aunt Carlock.
The film is currently available on VOD.
