Netflix has released the trailer for an upcoming documentary series titled Simone Biles on the risewhich tells the inspiring story of a gold medal-winning American gymnast.
The series follows Biles as she tries to balance her personal life, mental health journey and training ahead of a big comeback at the Olympics, coming this summer in Paris.
Witness unprecedented access to one of the most powerful comebacks in sports in Simone Biles Rising. Journey into Simone’s world as she faces vulnerability and insecurity, redefining what it means to be a “champion” on her terms.
The synopsis reads: “Simone Biles has unfinished business. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, it was one of the biggest stories leading up to the Games. But in sport, as in life, races don’t always go as planned. And for Simone, the world had a front row seat as her private struggle with her mental health exploded onto the international stage, forcing her to withdraw from the competition.
“Since then, Simone has worked hard: facing the difficult traumas of her past, learning to manage her mental health, embracing her journey and, in the process, rebuilding her gymnastics from the ground up.
“Her courage knows no limits as this summer she plans to return to the Olympic stage once again to do what she has always done: be the best Simone she can be. Because despite everything, Simone gets back up.”
Biles said, “We are all authors of our own journey, and I’m at a place in my life where I feel comfortable with who I am and what I’ve been through as an athlete, but more importantly, as a person.
“Gymnastics is what I do but it’s not who I am, and I’m excited for people to see another side of me outside of competition. I know there are girls out there who look to me for inspiration and are facing similar challenges, and my hope is that this documentary helps empower them to be true to who they are and never give up on their dreams. ‘I get up again'”
The project was directed by Katie Walsh, who said: “While his athletic ability is unmatched, it is the human component of his story that I am proud to share.”
I don’t know about you, but I am in awe of what these athletes can do and what they accomplish.
Simone Biles on the rise will be released on Netflix on July 17, 2024.
