Atomic Monster and Blumhouse have announced that they are developing a M3GAN spin-off film titled Soulm8tewhich is described as an erotic thriller with a technological twist.
The film is set in the same universe as M3GAN and the story centers on a man who “acquires an artificially intelligent android to cope with the loss of his recently deceased wife.
“In an attempt to create a truly sentient partner, he inadvertently transforms a harmless lovebot into a mortal soulmate.”
The film is said to be in the tradition of “90s domestic thrillers but with a modern, technological twist”.
The film will be directed by Kate Dolan (You are not my mother) from a screenplay written by Raffaele Giordano (Rescue Marines), with the story of James Wan, Ingrid Bisu and Jordan. Wan e Jason Blum will produce the film and
Dolan said in a statement: “I fundamentally see this film as an exploration of relationships and loneliness. Despite technological advances, there are enduring human truths we cannot escape, and I look forward to delving into those depths.”
Wan said: “Soulm8te is an exciting and enticing addition to the “M3GAN” universe. We are thrilled to partner with Kate to bring this story to life with her unique cinematic vision and point of view.”
Universal Pictures dated it to January 2, 2026.
