So, here’s the thing… I like it Star Wars! I grew up with this franchise, it’s been a part of my life for as long as I can remember! Even though I like most of what has come out of the franchise over the years, that doesn’t mean I’ll like everything. This goes for all fans of all types of franchises.
Just because The Acolyte isn’t clicking with me doesn’t mean I’m going to start threatening people and others Star Wars fans are thrilled.
Of course, I’ll share what I don’t like just like I did with Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Boba Fett bookand the sequel trilogy, but I won’t stalk and attack anyone who loves those things.
The Acolyte is certainly dividing fans and as we are seeing, things have gone too far with some hardcore trolls out there bullying people.
I just learned that these trolls are hunting down Wookieepedia as the website’s authors face bullying, abuse and death threats following the show’s controversial fourth episode.
This all comes after Wookieepedia updated Ki-Adi-Mundi’s page to detail his appearance The Acolyte and in response to trolling, Star Wars fans rallied to the website with #WeStandWithWookieepedia.
It’s okay to not like something, but what’s happening here is not okay. It’s crazy to me that some people take things to this ridiculous level. As someone who has been threatened and bullied by people online, including people who say they are Star Wars fans, it sucks and hurts.
There is already so much hate in this world, the least we can do is not bring that hate to the level of the Dark Side in Star Wars, which is supposed to be an escape from it all!
Like I said, I love Star Wars and there are so many things to celebrate about the franchise and its community. People need to be reminded of the classic Bill and Ted quote: “Be excellent to one another.”
If you like Star Wars, you’re a Star Wars fan. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Obviously we need to say it a little louder. Gatekeeping has no place in the Star Wars community. Period. If someone likes something that you don’t like, that’s fine. You can have your own opinions, however that does not give you the right to belittle others.

Oh, so much. We have witnessed vandalism on the site and many personal attacks in our DMs. Here’s a little snippet of the kind of messages we’ve been inundated with over the past 24 hours. pic.twitter.com/NxNo1DN8oe

We won’t mince words on this one. If your response to an editor adding a date to a Wookieepedia article is to tell him that you hope he and his pets die, you’re not a Star Wars fan. Hatred like that has no place here and you are not welcome in our community.

Our friend Ash immediately received absolutely disgusting messages immediately after posting it. If your instinct is to tell someone to kill themselves because they cried hate, you’re not a fan. Please send Ash all the love and support❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/t7VHeCgkrB

Let’s learn from the history of Star Wars. The hatred of The Phantom Menace has done real harm to the humans behind characters like Ahmed Best and Jake Lloyd. You have every right to like or dislike something, but acting like a bully is a toxic choice: choose KINDNESS instead. https://t.co/o7t9csWkGv

Harassing a fan-made encyclopedia because you don’t like a TV show is crazy.
Wookieepedia is the most accurate Star Wars resource available, and just because you refuse to separate the legends from the canon doesn’t mean you can treat people that way.
Give yourself a break. https://t.co/f0WUFNQHNX
