STREET FIGHTER The film loses TALK TO ME Directors Danny and Michael Philippou

Shortly after the horror film Speak with me it became a hit, directors Danny AND Michele Filippou came on board to develop a film adaptation of street fighter for Legendary.

Well, they are no longer attached to the project. According to insiders, scheduling is part of the reason they parted ways as “Legendary and Capcom were hoping to start sooner rather than later.”

But the Philippous have shifted their attention to a film project entitled Bring her back, who collaborates again with their studio Talk to Me A24. That project, which will be the protagonist Sally Hawkins AND Billy Barrattfilming will begin later this month in Australia.

Legendary is now looking for a new director to take on Street Fighter.

No story details were ever shared, but the directors said they had creative freedom on the project.

Michael commented on how the film “has an amazing lore, characters and world.” Danny then added: “Con street fighterLegendary, [it appears] that they’ll let us take control and really do our thing. It’s very exciting.”

Now they won’t do anything to us anymore! But it’s fine. It always seemed like a strange film project to be involved in in the first place. I was curious to see what they would do with it, but now the vision for this film will be in the hands of another director.

We’ll just have to wait and see who that director will be.
