We heard it a few years ago Mel Gibson was in talks to direct Lethal weapon 5and now in a recent interview, the actor and director confirmed it.
During his appearance on the Inspire Me podcast series, Gibson offered an update on the long-awaited project, saying, “I’ll be directing the fifth film of the Lethal Weapon series.”
He continued: “Richard Donner, who made the other four, sadly passed away and was a good friend, and he tasked me with carrying the flag of that one home. So it will be an honor for me to do it.”
Gibson went on to talk about the screenplay development process, which Donner began before his passing. “He managed to write the script well and we used what was there. We kept trying, working on it and I’m quite happy with it, it’s good, I had a lot of fun doing it.” .”
I mean, if anyone is going to carry the torch for this franchise, Gibson seems like the right person to do it. He definitely has the directing skills.
Gibson had previously said that the film had “a really good script” and “they had a really good model.” He also said, “I had the honor of sitting down, after Richard’s death, with the writer and doing a couple more drafts and trying to do it in the spirit of what we thought Donner might have done.” [want] because I knew that boy so well. We tried to get that flavor and were pretty happy with what we got.
It looks like the film is about to happen and all I can hope is that it reaches the same level as the previous one Lethal Weapon movies that were made because I love those movies.
