James Gunn says that Superman is full of Easter eggs, including a mural that tells the story of DC metumans

James Gunn clarifies it Superman It is a love letter to the deep tradition of DC Comics and, according to the director, fans should keep an eye on Easter egg because they are everywhere in the film.

In a recent fans’ event in the Leicester Square in London, where 30 minutes of Superman movies were shown before his release of 11 July, Gunn, producer Peter Safranand cast members David Corenswet, Rachel BrosnahanAND Nicholas Hault He offered some intuitions on what fans can expect.

Among the highlights? Gunn is around how loaded this film is when it comes to DC references in depth.

“This is the most Easter-egg film I have ever made. I have many Easter eggs in this film. I mean that every character of the film is practically from the comics.

“Everyone in the Lex control room – All those people are comics characters … Each road of the film takes its name from a writer or artist of comics.”

But the real gem here could be the massive mural massif teased, which appears in a key scene and offers a look in the long and mysterious story of the metumans in the DCU. Gunn explained:

“Most companies take its name from a comic book writer or artist, or take its name from commercial activities within the DC universe, on the page.

“Later, there is an iconic scene with a huge and huge mural in the background that tells you the story of the metumans in the DCU and that will be really very fun when we release those images to the public. So the stuff goes deep, it is really fun and it was really fun to create the world.

“This was one of the reasons why I really like DC because it is not New York and Los Angeles, they are Gotham and Central City and evergreen. He is really creating another world, with other rules and other things that are common.”

According to the voices, this mural can include the Justice Society of America, suggesting that the new DCU will not deal with Superman as the first hero, but rather the last of a long series of costume champions. If it is true, this trace with the way Gunn spoke of the construction of a DCU with inheritance and myth cooked in its bases.

It also echoes young justice and its concept of metagen, in which most of the metaumans born on the ground owe their powers to ancient blood lines or mystical events, many of them have returned to Vandal Savage. This is quite beautiful!
