HBO has released a trailer for a new mountaineering documentary titled Here to climb. I am fascinated by the sport of mountaineering and believe it is filled with some of the greatest athletes in the world.
This particular document focuses on the professional climber Sasha DiGiulianwho went from child prodigy to sport climbing champion, “while ultimately making her mark by taking her talents to the biggest walls on the planet with a series of daring female first ascents.
“Tackling physical and mental obstacles head on, Sasha charts her own path in a sport where no path existed, allowing her passion to become a viable profession.”
The film is said to be “driven by breathtaking cinematography that places the viewer on some of the most daunting and risky walls in the world, Here to climb details the unparalleled drive and determination needed to reach the top.
“As Sasha tackles one peak after another, “inspired and guided by female climbing icon Lynn Hill, she faces a series of obstacles, including attacks on her public image and climbing motivations, sometimes at the expense of safety, cyberbullying for his body weight, and a possible career-ending injury that led to five major surgeries in one year.
The film is described as a “stirring portrait of a record-breaking female athlete who relentlessly pushes her limits, redefining success on her own terms.”
I have nothing but respect for these professional climbers and am in awe of what they do. This sounds like a great documentary and I can’t wait to watch it!
The film was directed by Ricki Stern AND Annie Sundberg and will be released June 18 on MAX.
