Will Ferrell has played some hilarious roles in great films and comedy series over the years, but one of his favorites was his four-episode arc in The officein which he played Deangelo Vickers.
Peacock was released The Office: Superfan Episodes, which includes extended cuts from the groundbreaking NBC sitcom, and includes the four episodes that see Ferrell’s character take over as Steve CarellIt’s Michael Scott.
Ferrell and Carell have collaborated many times over their long careers and will next be seen (or heard) in the popular sequel to the franchise. Despicable Me 4.
At the film’s recent press conference, CinemaBlend was able to ask Ferrell about his Office period, and the actor volunteered some “superfan trivia,” revealing that this major run on national television was originally intended to be a simple cameo:
«But you know what’s interesting about that? A little superfan trivia here. I knew it was Steve’s last season, and I reached out to my agents and said, “I’d like to do a cameo on The Office, because I know Steve.” And they were like, “Okay, they’re excited.” They love him.
How about a four-show story arc?’ [Laughs] I thought, “Sure, this will be a lot of fun.” And it was. It’s one of my favorite things I’ve ever gotten to do.
Ferrell was so delightfully weird and hilarious in this role, it’s fun to know that he enjoyed doing it as much as we enjoyed watching him. Check out a collection of his best moments on the show below and catch Despicable Me 4 when it hits theaters on July 3.
