Official synopsis shared for THE LORD OF THE RINGS: WAR OF THE ROHIRRIM

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures have released an official synopsis for the highly anticipated Middle-earth anime film, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim.

This is a film I am extremely excited about and the first footage that was screened recently had a great reception and was greeted with “Thunderous Applause”. Can’t wait to see some real footage of this thing!

The film’s synopsis reads: “Set 183 years before the events of the original film trilogy, The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim chronicles the fate of the House of Helm Hammerhand, the legendary King of Rohan.

“A sudden attack by Wulf, a cunning and ruthless Dunland lord seeking revenge for his father’s death, forces Helm and his people to make a daring last stand in the ancient hold of Hornburg, a mighty fortress which later became known as Helm’s Deep.

“Finding themselves in an increasingly desperate situation, Héra, Helm’s daughter, must find the will to lead the resistance against a deadly enemy bent on their total destruction.”

The film is directed by Kenji Kamiyanawho said he was “inspired not only by JRR Tolkien’S The Hobbit AND The Lord of the Rings books, but from the films of Peter Jackson AND Fran Walsh”, who are the executive producers of the film.

Producer Filippa Boyens he explained that the film tells a story that is a “very human – and political – struggle.” She went on to say that the film “isn’t about the Ring, it’s not about the Dark Lord. This is all very peripheral to the story.

One of the things that appealed to him about the story was the examination of honor, revenge and family ties on both sides. “For Helm, there is a madness born of the grief of losing the child. With Wulf there is his relationship with his father and with Héra.

The story will also include the historical grievances of the Dunlendings, that the lords of Gondor had given what the Dunlendings believed was their land to the Rohirrim.

Boyens goes on to tease a key moment in the film, saying, “And there’s a moment in the film, which is incredibly heartbreaking and powerful, where Wulf commits to a course of action that he can’t walk away from. And once he does, the story goes dark.

The voice cast includes Brian Cox as Helm Hammerhand, the king of Rohan, Lorraine Ashbourne (from Netflix Bridgerton), Yazdan Qafouri (I came), Benjamin Wainwright (BBC One World on fire), Laurence Ubong Williams (Brings), Shaun Dooley (from Netflix The witcher), Michael Wildmann (Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw), Jude Akuwudike (Beasts of no nation), Bilal Hasna (BBC Sparks), AND Janine Duvitski (by ITV Benidorm).

The Lord of the Rings: War of the Rohirrim will be released in theaters on December 13th.
