HBO renews HOUSE OF THE DRAGON for a third season

HBO has officially renewed House of the Dragon for a third season before the season two premiere. This news shouldn’t surprise the creator George R. R. Martin he previously teased that he was already working with the writing team on seasons 3 and 4 of the fantasy drama.

Francesca OrsiExecutive Vice President, HBO Programming, Head of HBO Drama Series and Movies, said in a statement: “George, Ryan and the rest of our incredible executive producers, cast and crew, have reached new heights with the phenomenal second season of House. of the Dragon.

“We are amazed by the gigantic effort the entire team has put into creating a spectacular second season, with a scope and scale rivaled only by its heart. We couldn’t be more excited to continue the story of House Targaryen and see this team shine again for season three.”

The series is based on Martin’s Fire and blood, set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the story of House Targaryen. He is preparing the epic war between the Targaryens and the Hightowers.

Season 2’s returning cast is Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eva Migliore, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya MizunoAND Rhys Ifans.

Additional returning cast includes Harry Collet, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson HallAND Matthew Needham.

Martin and Ryan Condalwho also serves as showrunner, are co-creators and executive producers of the series.

Season 2 of House of the Dragon premieres Sunday, June 16 at 9pm ET/PT on HBO and streaming on Max.
