The Turkish drama series Farewell Letter will premiere on the Bigudi television channel on August 8 at 20:00. The show tells the story of a love that could not overcome family pressure, only to resurface three decades later.
In their youth, Alanur and Ziya were forced apart by their families, leaving behind only a single farewell letter. Thirty years later, after both have built separate families, fate reunites them when their children, Asli and Mehmet, unexpectedly fall in love.
The central farewell letter serves as the starting point for events shaping both families for decades. Old grievances, hidden secrets, and past decisions re-emerge to threaten the happiness of the younger generation, forcing them to choose whether to repeat their parents' mistakes or alter their future.
Cast and production details
Turkish television stars Nurgul Yesilcay, Selim Bayraktar, Rabia Soyturk, and Emre Kivilcim lead the cast. Yesilcay, known for Love and Punishment and Gulperi, plays Alanur in what she described as one of her most emotional roles. She stated that her character undergoes a complex journey from deep love to living with the consequences of her choices, requiring full emotional commitment.
Soyturk, who appeared in Hear Me, plays Asli and took dance lessons specifically to prepare for the role. Bayraktar previously starred in Magnificent Century and the Netflix series Rise of Empires Ottoman, while Kivilcim, who plays Mehmet, appeared in Dreams and Lives and Elif. The star cast generated interest among fans before the show's release.
Turkish screenwriter Deniz Akcay wrote the story, emphasizing family psychology, generational conflict, and the choice between emotion and duty.
