Netflix has released the trailer for a British superhero thriller series titled Supercellfrom the creator and showrunner Andrew Onwuboluwho calls himself Rapman (Blue story). Rapman wrote the series and co-directed it with Sebastian Thiel (Dreaming while you’re black, Just a couple, Riches).
The cast of the series includes Tosin Cole like Michael, Nadine Mills in the role of Sabrina, Eric Kofi Abrefa like André, Calvino Demba as Rodney, Josh Tedeku as Tazer, Adelayo Adedayo in the role of Dionne, Rayxia Ojo like Sharleen, and Giacomo Mancini like Spud.
The full synopsis reads:
Neflix’s Supacell series is about a group of five ordinary people who unexpectedly develop superpowers. They have little in common except one thing: they are all black from south London. It’s up to one man, Michael Lasaki (Tosin Cole), to bring them all together to save the woman he loves.
It seems like it could be good, but it’s hard to say, and it’s strange that Netflix hasn’t pushed promotion for the series at all, given that this is the first I’ve heard of it. Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. Clock Supercell on Netflix June 27.
