Steve Zahn (That thing you do, The White Lotus) has signed on to star in the Hulu comedy series Powers of Chad next to Glen Powell (Top Gun: nonconformist). The half-hour comedy is based on an Eli Manning sketch that aired on ESPN+.
Co-created and produced by Powell and Michael Waldron, the series follows a successful quarterback (Powell) whose college career ends after bad behavior. So he disguises himself as the talented and affable Chad Powers, who joins a struggling Southern football team.
Zahn will play Jake Hudson, the charismatic head coach of the show’s weak college football program. He’s about to be put out to pasture when the talented and flamboyant Chad Powers (Powell) arrives – and with him, one last shot at glory.
Manning serves as executive producer alongside Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz, Ben Brown and ESPN’s Omaha Productions. Waldron, who wrote the pilot script, and Adam Fasullo are producing for Anomaly Pictures while Powell is EPing under his Brainstorm producing co-banner.
