Trailer for THE OUTRUN starring Saoirse Ronan based on Amy Liptrot’s Memoir of Sobriety

A beautiful trailer of the film has been released The Outrunhero Saoirse Ronan. The story is based on By Amy Liptrot bestselling memoir of the same name, which describes the journey of an alcoholic woman returning to her homeland, the remote Orkney Islands located off the northern coast of Scotland at the northern tip of the United Kingdom.

Ronan is joined by Saskia Reeves, Stephen Dillane, Lauren Lyle, Izuka HoyleAND Paapa Essiedu.

The film is directed by Nora Fingscheidt (System crash, The Unforgivable, Without this world) from a screenplay written by Fingscheidt and Liptrot, based on a story written by Liptrot, Fingscheidt and Margaret Lewis.

The full synopsis reads:

After ten years living in London, 29-year-old Rona (Saoirse Ronan) returns home to the Orkney Islands, north of Scotland. She sober but lonely, she tries to suppress the memory of the events that led her on this journey of recovery. Slowly the beauty and traditions of the land enter her inner world and, one day at a time, Rona finds hope and strength in herself amidst the strong storms and the crisp, cold sea.

The Outrun will be released in UK cinemas on 27 September. No US release date has been set yet. Watch the trailer below and stay tuned for updates.
