Paramount has announced that it has completed the cast of Untitled Naked gun restart. New additions include Liza Koshy (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts), current WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes, CCH Pounder (Rustin) and musician Envelope rhyme.
The roles they will play have not been revealed, but it has been said that Rhodes will only make a cameo. They join previously announced stars Liam Neeson, Pamela Anderson, Paolo Walter Hauser, Kevin Durand AND Danny Houston. Neeson plays detective Frank Drebin, with Hauser as his partner Ed. The roles for Anderson and Huston have not yet been released, although it is clear that Durand will play the film’s villain.
Known for their absurd scenarios and slapstick humor, throwbacks Naked gun films centering on the misadventures of Drebin, the inept and bumbling police detective played by Leslie Nielsen, who also starred in the short-lived series by Jim Abrahams, David Zucker and Jerry Zucker Police squad!. Grossing over $216 million across three films, the film franchise launched in 1988 The gun discovered: from the police team’s files!with sequels Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear AND Naked Gun 33⅓: The final insult followed in 1991 and 1994 respectively.
Akiva Schaffer directs and produces the comedy, from a screenplay co-written by Schaffer, Dan Gregor AND Douglas Mand. Seth MacFarlane and Erica Huggins will produce via Fuzzy Door, with Daniel M. Stillman also serving as EP. The film is scheduled for release on July 18, 2025.
