Gerard Butler is in talks to star in an upcoming comedy action thriller titled State of the Empirewhich is about the attack on the Empire State Building.
Butler will collaborate again with Den of thieves director Cristiano Gudegast about the project, which will involve two first responders who don’t get along and who will have to work together to save lives.
The film’s screenplay was written by S. Craig Zahler (Bone tomahawk) AND Brian Tucker (Secret invasion). The fact that Zahler is involved is the most exciting thing about the project. He is a great writer!
In Empire State, “when the Empire State Building is attacked by a military contractor bent on revenge, Navy SEALs-turned-NYC firefighters Rhett (Butler) and NYPD tactical officer Dani (yet to be cast) must put their relationship problems aside while they work. to rescue the hostages and save the famous landmark.
Butler and Gudegast are currently in post-production Den of Thieves 2: Panther. Butler recently wrapped production on the live-action adaptation of Universal Pictures’ animated franchise How to train your dragon.
