It’s been almost a year and a half since the Marvel actor Jeremy RennerFatal snowplow accident. He has since made an incredible and miraculous recovery thanks to hard work and perseverance, but since returning to work on the set of his hit drama series Mayor of KingtownHe still has some obstacles he’s up against.
Renner recently explained to the LA Times that during his first week on the job, he sometimes fell asleep while shooting a scene:
“They say, ‘And action!’ And I was out. We realized they made me work too much, too many hours, too many days at a time,” he said. “What I’m willing to do is everything, but what I’m capable of doing is a different thing.”
He said the producers accommodated him by changing filming times because the jet lag is now extremely hard on his body. Instead of flying back and forth to California, Renner remained in Pittsburgh for much of the four-month shoot.
Renner joked: “They have to treat me like I’m a child actor. The mayor of Kingstown is now 14 years old.”
One of the actor’s eyes popped out of his skull due to the snowplow accident. But, according to Renner, the incident had some unexpected benefits.
He said he now has a photographic memory, useful for memorizing dialogue. “The eyeball that came out of my head? I have better vision in that eye than the other eye,” Renner said. “I think I’m becoming bionic.”
If fatigue is the only side effect you have to deal with, that’s pretty amazing! And having acquired the ability of photographic memory is practically perfect for his profession. I can’t wait to see Renner as Hawkeye again in a future MCU project.
Currently, Mayor of Kingtown Season 3 releases June 2 on Paramount+.
