A sequel to Adam Sandleris the classic comedy of 1996 Happy Gilmore has been teased in recent months as Sandler revealed he is working on development for Netflix.
It was all triggered by Christopher McDonald, who played marksman McGavin in the original film. In a previous interview he revealed that a script for the film had been written.
Well, Netflix confirmed it Happy Gilmore 2 is actually happening during its recent upfront presentation.
There’s no information on what the sequel will entail, but this is a movie we’ll be watching in the future. It will be fun to see what Happy has been up to after all these years!
Sandler has previously discussed where they are at with the project, saying, “Me and Tim Herlihy they are diligently trying to create a good reason for everyone to come watch and enjoy. Netflix is thrilled about it. So we’re working on it. We have some good ideas.”
He added, “Well, I’m shooting this movie that I’m in right now, and when I get home, in a little while I’ll call Herlihy and we’ll go in the room and jam and jam and jam. Now, we’re jamming, we already have a million ideas. We just need to turn it into a movie and make sure people enjoy it.
“It’s important, we love Happy Gilmore, we don’t want to disappoint anyone. People have been talking about it for many years. In fact, as I walked the streets of London, they said, “When is Appy coming?” We will work hard and make sure everything goes well.”
