As you know, Deadpool and Wolverine will have an overload of cameos from Fox’s X-Men films and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been many rumors about who might appear, but regardless of which characters appear, they all serve a purpose in the story.
During a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the director Shawn Levy hinted that the long-awaited film won’t be full of fan service and senseless cameos.
He explained, “I will say that we didn’t start with a wish list. From the day we started devising this Deadpool and Wolverine story, we let the story dictate the characters, and not the other way around.”
He then used a character as an example with Pyro (Aaron Stanford), the fire-based mutant who appeared in X2 AND X-Men: The Last Stand. He appeared briefly in the Super Bowl trailer of Deadpool 3.
Levy explained, “Aaron and his return as Pyro was a consequence of that, and that goes for pretty much every character you’ll see in the movie.”
In a previous interview, the director went on to say, “I made this film with a healthy respect and gratitude towards the fanatical fan base that has the greatest fluency in the mythology and lore of these characters and this world.”
He continued: “But I didn’t want to assume that. This film was created for entertainment, with no requirement to be prepared with prior research.”
In the film, “After facing some professional setbacks while going through a mid-life crisis. Wade Wilson decides to officially retire Deadpool and becomes a used car salesman.
“But when his friends, his family and the entire world are at stake, Deadpool decides to bring his katanas out of retirement. He recruits a reluctant and wary Wolverine to not only fight for their survival but, ultimately, their legacy.
It is also explained: “That damn irresponsible hero Deadpool will change the history of the MCU with Wolverine!?”
Shawn Levy is directing the film and the film’s confirmed cast includes Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Logan, Emma Corrin in the role of Cassandra Nova, Morena Baccarin AND Stefan Kapicic like Vanessa and Colossus, Matthew Macfadyen as a TVA agent e Leslie Uggam in the role of blind Al.
They are united by Brianna Hildebrand AND Shioli Kutsuna, who will also return to the franchise as Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend, Yukio. This had already been confirmed Jennifer Garner she will return as Elektra in the film.
