From now on, the northern hemisphere inhabitants will be able to witness one of the most beautiful astronomical phenomena of the year – the peak of the Perseid meteor flow. In open weather and away from the city lights, it will be possible to see 120 meteor per hour, which is about one to two per minute.

The best conditions for observations will occur on the night of August 12-13, especially after midnight and beyond the horizon of the month and will not intervene in the morning. Astronomers are advised to choose places outside the cities – how far away from artificial light sources is brighter. The ideal option is 30-100 km of mountains or open areas from the settlements.
Perseids are known for their bright flashes and even firearms that can take a few seconds. This year, a rare celestial duet – Mars and Jupiter will be accompanied by the meteor rain. Meteors can be seen along the sky, but the “starting point” – Radiant – Perseus, Giraffe and Cassiopeia is located on the border of the constellations.
Perseid flow occurs when the world passes through a cloud of dust left by the world Swift -tutl comet. These particles fly into the atmosphere at a speed of approximately 60 km/h and turn into bright light strips. The comet was opened in 1862 and returns to the sun every 133 years.
In 1992, the last time we crossed our planet and the next rapprochement is expected only in 2126. Despite the show of the show, scientists guarantee that the meteorin flow does not pose any danger to the world. All particles burn in the atmosphere before they reach the surface.
Meanwhile, the last meteor flow of Orionids reached maximum activity on the night of October 21, 2024.
