Seth MacFarlane thinks that Hollywood needs more confident stories: “This is the only thing Hollywood can do that it’s worth it”

Seth MacFarlane He believes that Hollywood has tilt too much towards a dark and pessimistic narrative, and it is time to bring hope. Speaking with Greetings legend TED DANSON On where everyone knows your name Podcast, the Family boy Creator said his work, how The orvilleHe was born from the desire to create something optimistic.

“That’s why I did it The orville. When I was a child, Hollywood was providing that voice in various forms. There was a lot of hope and some of the blades are here in this city.

“The dishes we are using are so dystopic and so pessimistic. And yes, there is a lot of pessimistic, but it is so unilateral. There is nothing that we are doing that provides anyone with an image of hope.”

While he is a fan of the acclaimed dramas like The story of Handmaid AND The sopraniMacFarlane thinks that Hollywood has corrected excessively.

“There is much more than what we used to get from Captain Picard. They are definitely giving us many precautionary stories, but where are the projects that once have given us to how to do things correctly?

“It can’t be all alone”, that’s what will happen to you if you go crazy. “You need” Here’s what you can get if you change your ways and do things in the right way. “

MacFarlane also sees a cultural fixation with anti -heroes. Using Tony Soprano as an example, he said that the trend is heavily tilts towards “the complicated person, f*cked-up, drug addict”.

Even when a series that admires, like The white lotusHe observed that “outside the main characters, nobody is someone you would like to be”.

For MacFarlane, this indicates a deeper problem in Hollywood’s narrative: a lack of aspirational characters and edifying narratives.

“This is the only thing really that Hollywood can do that it is worth it because, as we have all learned from these elections, nobody gives the celebrity what the celebrities think.

“We can tweet, we can speak. For example, people don’t care about. They don’t care. What we do well is to tell stories. And we are not doing the best job at this moment to tell those stories in a way that gives people.”

He believes that while darkness and cynicism have their place, the stories that offer visions of a better future are equally essential.

As for if we see more The orvilleMacFarlane says that there are plans for the fourth season, but nothing is confirmed. However, if you come back, fans can expect me to continue to bring the tone full of hope that Hollywood now needs more than ever.

I think you do positive points. While from time to time I love a beautiful dark story, my favorite films tell officent, felt and optomic stories. So, I would like to see it more!
