George Miller has already revealed that Max Rockatansky will appear in the film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga he will only make a brief cameo alongside his iconic car, The Interceptor.
The director has now revealed who will play Max in the film. He will Jacob Tomuriwho was Tom Hardyit’s double Way of Fury.
Miller explained: “It was Jacob Tomuri, the Tom Hardy lookalike [in Fury Road]. He also did other stunts. He’s a stuntman from New Zealand and he was doing other stunts in the film, and I thought, ‘Who’s better than him?’
For such a small role, it makes sense to cast Hardy’s lookalike in the role, which he has done before.
However, if Miller ends up making his other Mad Max movie one day, it will be interesting to see who he casts because I’m not sure Hardy is in the cards for another one. Mad Max movie.
The director had previously explained why Max appears in this film Furioussaying, “The writers know what happened Mad Max that year before, and we have a whole story about it, which I’d like to do sometime if I get the chance.”
Miller explained: “Doing what we did in the preparation of Mad Max: Road Furywe also wrote about what happened to Max the year before we met [that film].”
He added: “And as we get closer to the end of this movie, the timeline… Basically, we had to see that Mad Max was lurking somewhere because we know what happened.”
In the film, “As the world fell apart, young Furiosa is kidnapped from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great horde of bikers led by the warlord Dementus.
“Crossing the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by Immortal Joe. As the two Tyrants fight for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she scrapes together the means to find her way home.”
Miller has spoken out before Furisoa and revealed that the story takes place over the course of 15 years and leads directly to the events of Mad Max: Road Fury.

Miller shared, “The story is the saga of Furiosa, and how she gets taken away from home and spends the rest of her life trying to get back. [In] Way of Fury, the story takes place over three days and two nights. This film follows the story as it intertwines directly Way of Furyfor 15 years.”
He continued, “It’s a different animal. It has many different positions. It’s an odyssey. No questions asked.” As for a possible appearance by Max Rockatansky himself, Miller said: “I won’t give too much away about it. All I’ll say is that Max is lurking in the background.”
It’s also in the cast Anya Taylor-Gioia, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Daniel Webber, Lachy HulmeAND Quaden Bayles.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga will be released in theaters on May 24, 2024.
