Emmy nominated actress Teri Hatcher (Lois and Clark, Desperate Housewives) will be the protagonist of the next Lifetime movie, The Killer Inside: The Story of Ruth Finleybased on the true story of an unassuming housewife who becomes the target of a mysterious stalker who she and the police fear is the BTK Slayer.
“The Killer Inside: The Story of Ruth Finley follows the quiet life of Ruth (Hatcher) and her husband, Ed (Tahmoh Penikett), in Wichita, Kansas, which is suddenly turned upside down when Ed suffers a heart attack.
“As Ed fights for his life in hospital, Ruth begins to receive mysterious threats, leaving her in a state of panic. With the city held hostage by the terror of the BTK killer, Ruth finds herself wrapped in paranoia, convinced that she will be the next victim, while threatening phone calls turn into chilling letters.
“In the midst of the frenzy of the police search for BTK, Ruth is kidnapped, sending shockwaves through the community. Yet her sudden reappearance shortly after her kidnapping leaves investigators baffled and searching for answers.
“As suspicions grow and new evidence comes to light, authorities harbor the disturbing idea that the perpetrator may be someone intimately connected to Ruth.”
The film is written by Katie Gruel and directed by Greg Beeman, and Hatcher stars alongside Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica).
The Killer Inside: The Story of Ruth Finley will premiere on Saturday 29 June.
