Jacob Batalon talks working with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield on SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME and his hopes of seeing Ned return

Marvel’s Spider-Man trilogy, known (so far) as the Home Trilogy, witnessed the rise and fall of Tom HollandPeter Parker together with his two best friends, Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya).

This all came to an abrupt end in the third film, Spider-Man: No Way Homeand we don’t know what happens next for the character, but we hope to see him end up with some happiness after everything he’s been through.

Ned actor Jacob Batalon recently talked about what he hopes to see in the future for his character, but first he explained to ComicBook how great it was filming that last movie, which we’ve seen both bring back Tobey Maguirehe’s also Peter Parker Andrea Garfield’S. And it was Ned who actually took them out of the portal.

The actor explained:

“I remember thinking it was probably one of those moments where people would talk about it for a long time. It was really fun. I feel like that was probably the moment I got to know them the most. I think everyone on set knew it was really special. It had never been done before. I feel like everyone understood the gravity of the moment, but we also kept it very light. At that point in the shoot, because we were working during the pandemic, we were all grateful to be there.”

As for whether or not we’ll see Ned return in the fourth Spider-Man film now that he has no memory of his best friend, Batalon remains in the dark, even as fans speculate about his character’s potentially sinister transformation into the Hobgoblin. Batalon said:

“I honestly don’t know. I don’t know what the future holds for any of them in that world. I have a feeling that if things happen, they happen. I hope so. I sincerely hope so. It’s sad that I don’t have any friends anymore.”

It’s really such a sad place that they left Peter Parker. I hope to see him find happiness in the next movie, and personally I’d rather see him reunite with MJ and Ned than see one of his friends turn into a villain, but whichever way it goes, I’m along for the ride.
