Apple and Lucasfilm have collaborated on a new Star Wars-themed commercial promoting the iPhone 15’s “Precision Search for Find My Friends” feature.
The commercial was directed by Kim Gehrig and follows a Mandalorian cosplayer, played by real-life fan Owen, “as he travels to meet friends at a local convention.
“He starts the day by feeding his cat, Leia, and checking essentials (“Keys, phone, thermal detonator”), before heading out. She gets some boba tea (naturally), takes the bus, and uses her iPhone 15 to chat and find her Mandalorian clan.
“Finally together, they share greetings and some headbutts in sync with Channel Tres’ “All My Friends,” with the lyrics “5:02, past curfew” changed to “5:01,” in a nod to the artist’s group of 501st Legion fans. Jardiniano and his friends then take off… up the escalator.”
Owen spoke about this experience saying, “Oh, it’s amazing. It still doesn’t feel real to me. It was just wonderful, really, to be able to do all this.”
As you’ll see, the ad is full of fun little Star Wars Easter eggs. Enjoy!
