Focus Features has released another trailer for the writer and director Jeff Nichols’ (Midnight special, Mud) motorcycle drama The motorcyclistswhich sounds like a great movie.
The film is inspired by true events, is set in the 1960s and follows a decade in the life of a motorcycle club. Sounds like a great movie! The motorcyclists follows the rise of a fictional 1960s Midwestern motorcycle club through the lives of its members.
Inspired by Danny Lyonthe iconic photography book, The motorcyclists “immerses you in the look, feel and sounds of the bare-knuckled, grease-covered biker subculture of the 1960s.”
The film’s synopsis reads: “Kathy, a strong-willed member of the Vandals married to a wild and reckless cyclist named Benny, chronicles the evolution of the Vandals over the course of a decade, starting as a local club of outsiders united by good times, bikes roaring and respect for their strong and constant leader Johnny.
Over the years, “Kathy does her best to juggle her husband’s wild nature with her loyalty to Johnny, with whom she feels she must compete for Benny’s attention. As life in the Vandals becomes increasingly dangerous and the club threatens to become an even more sinister gang, Kathy, Benny and Johnny are forced to make choices about their loyalties to the club and each other.
The film’s cast includes Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, Michael Shannon, Boyd HolbrookAND Norman Reedus.
It is also explained that most of the cast rode themselves on a number of era-appropriate bicycles. The motorcyclists will be released in American theaters on June 21st.
