The new film SLEEPY HOLLOW is still in development with Lindsey Anderson Beer directing

He announced it last year Lindsey Anderson Beer (Pet Seminar: Bloodlines) would direct a new live-action adaptation of Washington Irving’s classic horror story The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

THR reported that Beer’s first-look deal with the studio has been renewed and that his film Sleepy Hollow is still in development. He will write, direct and produce the film.

Speaking previously about the film, Beer explained: “Sleepy Hollow… There are a lot of similar skill sets in terms of the beloved IP.”

He continued, “It’s also the same kind of thing I was doing when I was doing it BloodlinesI kept asking myself as I was rewriting, ‘What do I wish I knew how to Cemetery for pets fan? What questions were left unanswered in the book? And what are the parts of the book that haven’t been explored in the films?'”

He continued: “For example, the end of [Pet Sematary] says Jud is the guardian of the woods, and the book says Jud’s experience with Timmy Baterman is the reason evil targets him even when he’s old, we know that…”

He added: “There are so many things like that that aren’t explored in the movies, and that a lot of fans don’t know because they haven’t read the book, or haven’t read it in so long.” .”

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow is set in the Dutch settlement of Tarrytown, New York, in a secluded valley known as Sleepy Hollow, and tells the story of Ichabod Crane, a lanky, superstitious schoolmaster from Connecticut. Ichabod competes with the town’s strongman, Brom Bones, for the hand of Katrina Van Tassel, the daughter of a wealthy farmer.

Ichabod ends up encountering what he believes to be the ghost of a headless Hessian soldier, who is said to be searching for his missing head. This apparition, the Headless Horseman, chases Ichabod through the woods, ultimately leading to the master’s mysterious disappearance.

The classic tale ends with hints that the ghostly figure was actually Brom Bones who was playing a prank on Crane to scare him away from Sleepy Hollow and Katrina.
