A fascinating and disturbing trailer for the documentary has been released Eternal you, which dives into the world of artificial intelligence and the strides being made in using artificial intelligence technology to instill the personality of those who have died into a computer program or even a robotic being to bring someone back to life. The film, which premiered at Sundance this year, was co-directed by German directors Hans Blocco AND Moritz Riesewieck (The Cleaners).
The synopsis of the documentary reads: “The documentary Eternal You examines the story of people living as digital replicants in the pockets of their loved ones.
“With the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and Big Data, a dream as old as humanity itself is realized: eternal life. It’s probably the greatest business idea of the digital age: tech start-ups using vast amounts of data to develop “digital doppelgangers” that promise to immortalize people on earth.
“The film raises a number of questions, including: Can a digital entity compensate for the loss of a loved one? How will human memory be affected? And don’t we have the right to forget?”
