Director and head of DC Studios James Gunn he is quite interactive with his fans. He likes to post photos and videos on social media that tease upcoming projects and get fans talking.
He’s also pretty good at answering fans who ask him questions on his pages. But he posted a photo this weekend in reference to his neighbor Superman film to which he has thus far provided no context.
The photo is of the Superman “S” logo that first appeared on the Man of Steel’s chest on the cover of Action Comics #1. 1, when he was first introduced, lifting a green car over his head as his cape fluttered behind him.
This “S” logo was quickly phased out for a cooler, more distinct look, and has changed many times over the years, but it’s interesting that Gunn released this logo, especially since we know his film won’t be an origin story , but a film about an established Clark Kent/Superman. I wonder if it will take place in a different time period though…
Superman will tell the story of “Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
Superman stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman; Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane; Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern; Isabela Mercede as Hawkgirl; Edi Gathegi as Michael Holt/Mr. Terrific; Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen; María Gabriela de Faría in the role of Angela Spica, aka The Engineer; Sara Sampaio, in the role of Eva Teschmacher; AND Terence Rosemore as Otis.
Superman The theatrical release is scheduled for July 11, 2025.
