Zack Snyder he was recently a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and during that interview he revealed an interesting tidbit about casting for Guardians.
Snyder shared that he wanted to do the casting Tom Cruise as Ozymandias, but that wasn’t the character Cruise wanted to play. Cruise wanted to play Rorschach in the movie!
Snyder explained that they had already chosen the cast Jackie Earle Haley in the role, and since he was perfect for that role, Snyder didn’t want to replace him with Cruise, who was the right choice!
Matthew Goode he ended up in the role of Ozymandias, and in the end, everyone who was cast in that movie was perfect for the roles they played!
Snyder thinks Cruise would have been good in these roles, but things didn’t work out. It would definitely have been interesting to see the actor play one of these characters in the film. It would have been a very different type of role for him.
