Two-time Oscar-winning actor Michael Douglas he also played the character Hank Pym in the Marvel Ant-Man films Avengers: Endgame and the animated series What if…?. She played the role very well, but apparently she feels like her reign in the MCU is ready to end.
The actor went viral last year when he told this THR on the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania red carpet that he would only be interested in returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Hank Pym in a fourth Ant man film “Till I Can Die”. It turns out that was actually Douglas’ wish Quantimania.
Appearing on The sight (through Entertainment weekly) to promote his new historical drama series on Apple TV+ FranklinDouglas revealed that he actually wanted to be killed by the MCU in the third Ant man movie. He also called for a huge special effects bonanza to help send Hank Pym to the afterlife.
He explained:
“[Getting killed off] it was actually my request for the third one. I said I’d like to do something serious [death], with all these amazing special effects. There has to be some cool way I can shrink down to the size of an ant and explode, whatever that is. I want to use all those effects. But that was the last one. Now, I don’t think I’ll show up [for a fourth].”
Marvel has not yet announced its plans for the Ant man the future of franchising. The last film wasn’t as successful at the box office or with fans as the first two films. So Douglas might just be off the hook.
Personally I would like to see another one Ant man film with Paul Rudd, but perhaps Hank Pym’s story could be coming to an end.
