One of the most iconic fight sequences of Star Wars franchise is the lightsaber duel “Duel of the Fates” where Darth Maul faces Obi-Wan Kenobi and Qui-Gon Jinn in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace.
It was previously shared that the lightsaber battle from The Phantom Menace served as inspiration for the type of battles we’ll see in The Acolyte.
One of the stars of the series, Manny Giacintohe said, “If you loved that sequence with Qui-Gon, Obi-Wan and Darth Maul. I think you’ll like this show.”
Now, in a new interview with the star of the series Entertainment Weekly, star of the series Dafne Keen said thisThe Acolyte hopes to surpass Darth Maul’s lightsaber battle.
He said: “Yes, it was a very frequent conversation we had. It was so much – we want to top the Darth Maul fight, the most iconic fight, I think, in the Star Wars cinematic universe”.
He continued: “It’s an amazing fight and we were all so excited about the saber fights. There’s such skill and craft to this that it feels so OG Star Wars and it’s so impressive when you see it as a viewer.

Co-star Charlie Barnett previously teased: “I’ll say it too: Not to throw shade, but we have much more tangible physical movements than I saw in that fight. As badass as he is, there’s a lot more work ingrained into our acrobatic training and in our acrobatic performances.”
It would be really cool if the fight scenes became this epic. They’re definitely talking, but we’ll just have to wait and see if they can actually live up to the hype.
