Teenage Mutant Turtles: THE LAST RONIN Film Adaptation in Development!

Paramount Pictures has announced that they are developing an R-rated live action adaptation of the hit comic book Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin!

It’s honestly something Paramount would never think of doing, and I’m so damn excited that it’s actually happening! This is a really badass story and seeing it brought to life on the big screen in live action is amazing!

Tyler Burton Smithwho co-wrote the next R-rated action film The boy kills the world as well as the 2019 iteration of the Chucky horror franchise Child’s playhe’s writing the screenplay.

Former DC Films boss Walter Hamada is producing through his 18hz production company as part of his multi-year deal with the studio.

The Last Ronin is set in a totalitarian future New York, the story is told of how the Turtles and Master Splinter are killed one by one by the evil Shredder’s nephew and synthetic ninjas. A turtle manages to survive, barely, and vows to exact bloody revenge.

The first part of the story didn’t make it clear which of the turtles survived since the survivor had the weapons of all four. In case you’ve never read the comic, I won’t spoil who it is. The IDW comic was a huge success, though!

Co-creator of the TMNT Kevin Eastmann AND Tom Waltz wrote the comic based on an old story by Eastman and co-creator Peter Laird.

IDW recently released the sequel TMNT: The Last Ronin II – Re-Evolutionwith the debut issue billed as one of the biggest comics of the year with over 140,000 copies ordered.

I’m so damn excited about this! What do you think? Who would you like to see come on board to direct the film?
