Margot Robbie will produce a MONOPOLY movie with Lionsgate

Lionsgate announced at CinemaCon that they had partnered Barbie star and producer Margot Robbie to develop a film based on the popular Hasbro board game Monopoly.

Hasbro Entertainment is producing the film alongside Robbie’s company LuckyChap and its partners Tom Ackerley AND Josie McNamara.

It was announced that Hasbro and Lionsgate were developing it Monopoly movie last year. At the time, Hasbro CEO Chris Cocks said in a statement: “This sale is fully aligned with our strategy and we are pleased to bring the process to a successful conclusion.”

He added: “Lionsgate’s management team is experienced in entertainment and adept at driving value, and we are delighted to have found such a good home for our eOne film and television business. We look forward to collaborating with them, particularly on a film adaptation of Monopoly.”

There’s no word on what kind of story this movie will tell, whether it will be live-action or animated, or a movie about the game versus a movie set in the world of Monopoly, so we’ll just have to wait and see how the creative team will develop the narrative.

Adam Fogelson, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, said Robbie and his team have “a clear point of view” on the next film. Monopoly movie.

He continued: “I couldn’t imagine a better production team than LuckyChap for this beloved and iconic brand. They are exceptional producers who choose their projects with great attention and care and come together Monopoly with a clear point of view.
