When I went to the movies last weekend, I was sitting in a packed theater watching the trailers, and as each trailer played, people in the audience made joking and derogatory comments about the trailers for many of the upcoming films.
Then suddenly the trailer for the original 1999 adventure film started playing The Mummy promoting a theatrical re-release for its 25th anniversary, and when the trailer appeared the theaters erupted in cheers and applause, and it was a fun little experience.
There were many people in that theater who had never seen The Mummy on the big screen before, and the excitement about that opportunity was electric.
Yes, The Mummy will return to theaters on April 26 and tickets are available now. Of course, I plan to go! This was a super fun movie!
The action-adventure film was directed by Stephen Sommersand follows the story of Rick O’Connell, played by Brendan Fraser, who teams up with librarian Evelyn Carnahan, played by Rachel Weiszand his brother Jonathan, played by John Hannahto explore the ancient city of Hamunaptra.
Their expedition inadvertently awakens Imhotep, a cursed high priest of ancient Egypt, played by Arnold Vosloounleashing a series of plagues on the world.
The film offers a fantastic mix of horror, adventure and comedy, as the characters race to stop Imhotep’s wrathful quest for immortality and reunite with his old love.
Will you be watching? The Mummy on the big screen!?
*Screams in Mummy* Tickets for the Mummy’s 25th anniversary are on sale now! In theaters from April 26th.
