Two-time Academy Award-winning actress Renee Zellweger (Jerry Maguire, Judy) will return to play a franchise role in the upcoming sequel, Bridget Jones: crazy about the guywhich started in the 2001 film Bridget Jones’s Diary. She went on to reprise the starring role in the 2004 sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. After a long break, she is back for Bridget Jones’s baby in 2016, and now we’ll see the story expand with this next title.
Hugh Grant AND Emma Thompson are confirmed to return alongside franchise newcomers Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave, Current love) AND Leo Woodall (The White Lotus, One day). The film will be directed by Michael Morris (To Leslie, Better call Saulo).
For his role in the original 2001 film, Zellweger earned his first Oscar nomination. Crazy about the boy marks Grant’s return to the film series after his character, Daniel Cleaver, was presumed dead (and later revealed to be alive) in Bridget Jones’s baby.
Bridget Jones: crazy about the guy will debut in theaters worldwide and on Peacock in the US on Valentine’s Day 2025.
