Stranger things fans would definitely like to see Eddie Munson return for the upcoming fifth and final season. Yes, he died in season 4, there’s a great theory about how he could come back! Eddie’s character could continue if the creative team behind the series wanted it.
During a recent panel at FACTS Belgian Comic-Con, actor Joseph Quinn a fan asked if he would return to play Eddie next season, and Quinn played coy about the possibility of his return, saying, “I know, but I’m not telling you.”
He could have said no outright, but he didn’t. Instead she decided to play with fans’ emotions by making us believe that there is a possibility that Eddie will return!
Quinn, who will appear next Ridley Scott’S Gladiator 2 and as the Human Torch in Marvel The fantastic Four reboot, previously talked about his character’s arc.
She said: “I think it’s a very important part of Eddie’s story. It’s a redemption story. I think he’s completely haunted by his inability to do anything to save Chrissy and how helpless he was at the time. And obviously being blamed for that murder. it’s devastating and then having to hide.
Quinn added: “I think he gets a bit bored feeling pathetic and unable to do anything. And then at some point in episode 8, a switch flips and he decides that he’s going to prove himself. Then the opportunity presents itself, but he must pay the ultimate price. But he proves to himself that he is certainly no coward.”
As for the possibility of reprising the role, Quinn said at the time, “You know, anything is possible, and I’d be willing to do anything. So yeah, we’ll see.”
Producer Shawn Levy previously addressed the possibilities of the character’s return, saying, “A lot of people can’t even handle the thought of a season 5 without some excuse for Eddie to be there. Highly unlikely, highly unlikely. But we hear you, world, we know . You’re obsessed with Eddie, so are we.”
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens, but it would be great to see Eddie return to help the gang defeat Vecna.
