James Cameron is still developing his film FANTASTIC VOYAGE and has offered an update

It’s been more than thirteen years since we last heard about it James Cameronis the remake of the classic 1966 sci-fi adventure film Fantastic trip. I thought the project was dead, but Cameron is actually still developing it!

Cameron recently attended an event in Paris last week where “The Art of James Cameron” is now on display at the Cinematheque Française. It was there that the director offered the following update:

We have been developing it for several years and plan to take it further very soon. Raquel Welch isn’t available, but we think we can make a good film.

Over the years, several directors have latched onto this Fantastic trip including project Shawn Levy, Guillermo del Toro, David Goyer, Hugh JackmanAND Will Smith. There’s no word yet on who will be considered to direct the film, but it looks like we’ll find out soon.

The story revolves around a daring and unprecedented mission in which a submarine and its crew are miniaturized to microscopic size and injected into the bloodstream of a critically injured scientist.

Their mission is to travel through his body and remove a life-threatening blood clot in his brain. During the perilous journey through the interior of the human body, the crew faces various challenges and threats, including immune system defenses and the ever-present danger of returning to normal size before completing the mission.

Speaking previously about the film, Cameron explained that “medical imaging has come a long way since the ’60s when the first movie was made. So we can do some really amazing things.”

This could turn out to be a really interesting remake and I can’t wait to see what Cameron and his creative team do with it.
