The upcoming reboot of James O’Barrit’s comical The Raven isn’t getting much love from fans. Many people criticize it, including the director of the original film Alex Proyas. People are just not happy about this movie being remade because most people support it The Raven AND Brandon Leeand, out of respect, the film should not be rebooted.
ghost Buster star Ernie Hudsonwho also starred in the original The Raven, admitted that he hadn’t seen the trailer for the new film. In fact, she hasn’t even seen any of the sequels. During an interview with CB, Hudson explained:
“I haven’t seen it. The actor, who – I can’t think of his name – plays the protagonist, I love and respect him. But, for me, The Crow is Brandon Lee. I can’t imagine… The Corvo has a lot of different stories in it, let’s hope they don’t try to remake it, they do their own thing with it and take it in a different direction I haven’t seen it, I haven’t seen it seen any of the other Corvos [movies]Why [of] what happened to Brandon.”
Brandon Lee played the role of Eric Draven in the original film and was tragically killed due to an accident on set, which you can read about here. Bill Skarsgard (It) is the actor who plays Draven in the reboot, and while I also like him as an actor, after seeing the trailer, I don’t buy him as a character.
Hudson previously said: “I can’t watch The Crow. It breaks my heart and I can’t get over it. A lot of it was action stuff, but Brandon and I got to act together.”
In the new film: “Soulmates Eric Draven (Skarsgård) and Shelly Webster (FKA Twigs) are brutally murdered when demons from her dark past reach them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric decides to seek ruthless revenge on their killers, crossing the worlds of the living and the dead to make right the wrongs.
This version of the film comes from the director Rupert Sanders (Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghost in the shell), and also features the singer/actor in the cast FKA Twigs, Danny Houston (30 days of night), Laura Birn (Foundation), Sami Bouajila (A son), AND Giordano Bolger (The Woman King).
The Raven reboot will be released in theaters on June 7, 2024.
