Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Bullet Train) was reportedly offered the role of 007 in Eon Productions James Bond movie. The news comes from The Sun, which also says that she is expected to officially come on board very soon, ahead of production later this year.
A source told the publication: “Bond is Aaron’s job, if he wishes to take it. The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting for a response. As for Eon, Aaron will sign his contract in the next few days and they can start preparing for the big announcement.”
Last year it was reported that the Bond franchise producer Barbara Broccoli he had met Taylor-Johnson. Broccoli had previously shared that they were looking for a younger British actor to play Bond, and it looks like the actor has all the ticks of a good Bond.
There were rumors that Taylor-Johnson even auditioned and that everything went “very well.” Apparently he’s been a favorite for the role for a while, so if that’s the case it makes sense that he’d be the actor they offered.
It was later revealed by the screenwriter Michael G. Wilson that the producers were looking for an actor who could authentically play a Bond who “had been through the wars, so to speak”. He also said: “He was probably in the SAS or something. He’s not some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start.”
We’ll just have to wait and see what comes of this, but if Aaron-Johnson is cast, I think he’ll be great in the role! What do you think of the actor who will play the role of James Bond in the upcoming 26th film and beyond?
